HSMP Programme

Post by D0g » Thu May 20, 2004 11:45 am

Hi,

I understand the HSMP programme has been running since Feb '02. Does anyone know how many applications have been successful since it's inception... any stats out there??

I've submitted my HSMP application on 14th May but am still in 2 minds whether I'll actually take up the chance if my application is successful. Don't get me wrong, ultimately I'll very much like to live & work in the UK but am concerned that the programme may be terminated within the next year or so, before I can get it extended. I have 2 years to go in Ireland before I can apply for naturalisation (and then wait another 18 months for it to be processed) so I don't want to go to the UK and find out that the programme has been discontiuned after 8 months. The reason I'm thinking of leaving Ireland is because it's become so expensive to live here [almost on par now with London] however salaries are 30 - 50% lower than in UK. I realise there are no definite facts & answers out there regarding this issue, as it's very much a politcal subject, but just wanted to see what the general feeling is out there. Any thoughts/comments?

Cheers

I remember reading the HO caseworker guidance/law pages about this, and I think they mention that if the scheme is discontinued, those already on it will still have the right to extend etc, they will just not accept new applications.

Check the HO website under the law and policy pages.
