Travel while on HSMP EC

Post by coppertone » Mon Dec 12, 2005 6:19 am

I have something of an interesting problem here. I stay in Los Angeles and plan to move the UK soon. I have an EC valid effective Dec 01 05. On Dec 09 05 I traveled to the UK for a meeting with a person regarding a very exciting job opportunity. Since I am very busy with my job in LA (from which I have not resigned yet) I was there only for the weekend. The EC was the only visa I had and I am a visa national, therefore I entered on the EC and left the next day. Upon entry I was asked if I had a job but no other questions. They also X-Rayed me and on the X-Ray form I saw this was needed of all long stay visitors.

I am planning to move to the UK by Feb 01 whether or not I have a job. However I have suddenly developed a fear that I will be denied entry the next time I go because of this very brief trip. Before I left I assumed that I could come and go from the UK as many times as I wanted as long as I stayed and worked long enough to be in good shape come EC extension time (about Oct 06). However I am now having my doubts. Anyone with a similar experience (like making short trips on the EC for interviews) please reply. Also advice from HSMP gurus will be eagerly awaited.

Losing sleep in LA

So you entered and got a stamp on your EC. But on leaving the UK you got ????? So indeed how would the UK immigration authority even know the length of time you actually spent in the UK.

In short, stop worrying.
