Naturalisation -- return of documents

Post by aix » Mon Dec 12, 2005 7:15 am

I will soon be applying for British nationality.

I would like to have the documents returned by special delivery to my work address. I am wondering if I can enclose a prepaid addressed Special Delivery envelope with my application for IND to use.

Anyone has any experience in this regard?

Also, snce it is a joint application, is one envelope enough, or will IND return my wife's documents separately?

The first point must be .... have you considered using NCS? If you used that then you would never lose possession of your passports, except for a few seconds while they are photocopied at the NCS office before being handed straight back to you.

Prepaid Special Delivery document. My wife did exactly that (NCS had not started then). I think one such envelope enough between you and your wife.

Seriously NCS is highly recommended.

I agree with John on NCS. Note that they only keep originals for educational documents which were returned by recorded delivery. Now that the life in the UK test is on, educational documents will not be needed to show English proficiency.

If you don't use NCS, it is likely that your original documents will be returned by 2nd class recorded delivery, which is more secure than nothing. Of course you could send a prepaid special delivery envelope, but the better option would be to use NCS.

i agree with John & Joseph, use the NCS, schedule an appointment for the afternoon that way you dont need to book a holiday.

you wont need to check your post forver for the return of your passport, though you will be doing that over the next few weeks(at least) for the naturalisation acceptance :)
