Divorce IN UK

Hi,
My sister got married in 2007 to Indian citizen working in UK in India. But unfortunately things did not work out between them and she left the country in 2008. She filled for divorce and settlement claim in a court in India. Even before the case went in front of the judge in India, her husband filled for a divorce in Stcokport court and was granted the same as she did not appear in the court.
My question is:
1. As the marriage took place in India under Indian Marriaage ACT is this divorce in UK vaild ?
2.Whether my sister can continue the case for the settlement claim in India and she still needs to fill for a divorce?

Any help much appreciated
