Visit visa for Parents

Post by Rajuk09 » Thu Dec 24, 2009 6:04 pm

Dear All,

I am in workpermit visa and I want to sponsor for my parents and parents in law (4 people),to take care of my pregnant wife during pregnancy and sometime after giving birth also.

Information about siblings
--------------------------
I have my unmarried brother and married sister living in India. And my wife have unmarried brother in India.

Please clarify the following
----------------------------

1) My father is not doing any business for last one year as he is old ,so dont have any documents to show on earnings, will this be a problem ?

2) I sponser with workpermit and before my parents come to UK, If I make a switch to Tier1 Visa, will it cause any problems for them to come to UK or will the visit visa become invalid ?

3) I am planing to apply together for all the 4 people but with a different travel date for my parents and parents in laws.Is this possible ?

4) How much money do I need to show in my bank account,if I am the sole sponserer ?

5) Do I need to show accodation details for the people whom I sponsor ?

6) Little confused with the application form to use , do I need to use VAF1A - General visitor OR VAF1B - Family visitor ?

7) Any important documents to be given other than my bank statements and payslips ?

Kindly clarify on the above points please.

thanks and regards

Raj

Be careful as this might be construed as employment. Occasional help is ok, but fulltime nannying will raise red flags.

WRT sponsorship, u will need to show accommodation is in place, two extra bedrooms and that u can meet the expenses of these four people, sounds like a few months so I guess u should show around £5/7k surplus in bank?

U have to provide bank statements and prove house is big enough council of estate agent will provide for a fee.

VAF1B is correct form I think.

Hi Wanderer,

Thanks for the reply,

we are going to get them for max of 4 months only, not for long period.

What is WRT Sponsorship ? , and for accommodation can I show , any hotel booked or something like that ?because I am in a 1 bedroom flat and even I take a 2 bedroom flat for 6 people (me and my wife , parents , parents in law) , govt wont allow ?

Please clarify about the documents to show for my non working father too .

thanks and regards

One bed flat no way large enough, u will need to show hotel booking or proof of other suitable accommodation.

WRT = With Regard To.

A hotel plus expenses for four for four months is gonna cost a fortune, a quick of the top of my head calc at say £150 a day for all four, cheap £50 a night travel lodge per couple plus £50 expenses per day shared over four months is around £18k - phew!!

Even a really bad B&B at £25 a night isn't gonna reduce the cost that much.

WRT ur father, returnabilty is important, so u need to show proof of property, family back home, not easy with his wife coming too.

Sounds a bit ambitious this one, might be easier to get a bigger place....

maximum stay on a visit visa is 3 months - if you put dates spanning 4 months your visa application will be rejected

3. you will have to apply for all 4 visas seperately, so you can put as many different sets of dates as you like

6. VAF1B

document checklists can be found on the application form

Hi Andyb123,

Thanks for the information. In most places , I read that they allow upto 6 months ? , have they reduced the duration ?

thanks and regards

That bit is true!
But you can also go for the WHOLE six months in a single visit (if the visa allows you for that long), as long as you leave by/on the expiry date of the visa!

You need at least a 2 bedroom property to satisfy the suitable accomodation part. If in-laws and your parents at same time then at least 3.
