UK entry passport validity requirement

Post by david1955 » Fri Jan 01, 2010 8:09 am

Hi,
I dont know whether this is the right place or not but I hope anyone can help me with this. Recently i switched from post study work visa to tier 2 visa. Currently i am in india on my holidays and my return is on 20 jan , but my passport expires on 22 feb. Will i be having any problems in coming back, as i heard that for entry on uk , the passport has to be valid for atleast three months.
I didnt got the chance to renew my passport when i was in uk, as i didnt had my passport with me. I thought i would do in india, in india i am trying , but finding it very hard. I having been living in uk for past 4 years.

so my questions are:
will the customs at the airport will cause any problem for me , as my passport is still valid for 1 month?

I hope anyone can help me with this soonly.
thanks

As long as the passport is valid it will not cause any problem for you to enter. No need to worry.

You shouldn't have a problem in the UK but I know that if you are transiting through some of the Gulf countries they can make your life miserable. A friend of mine got into trouble by the Gulf authorities acting as moral policeman for UK questioning whether they should allow travel to UK. The option was for him to be sent back to India. Luckly for him, he put a very impressive and confident show and he had a job/employment letter to show that he had a stable job and renewal of passport/visa was just a formality.

Not true. As long as you have valid visa and 1 month remaining you should be ok
