Contributions towards family home

Post by omeo_21 » Fri Jan 08, 2010 2:39 pm

Hi everyone,

My solicitor wrote on my cover letter "the sponsor resides at this property on a rent free basis and does not contribute towards housing costs, hence he has limited housing expenditure"

is this ok to say or is better to show you do contribute something of your money towards your family home?? and if i wanted to amend this could i just cross it out as i cant get the letter retyped

thanks

there seems to be some disagreement on this on the boards at the moment

on what basis are you living rent free?

i can only go by my own experience which is that in my Fiance's application we highlighted and made a big deal that I was living rent free with my parents and so would my wife be, so my living costs were virtually zero, meaning all of my income could be used to support my wife

we were approved with no questions to either of us about our finances or accommodation in the UK

basically its the same as you andy, Im living rent free with my parents, and so will my fiance/wife be when she joins me. Basically i have no living expenses as my parents cover that so as you i'll have my full wage and savings to support my wife. But i heard its good to say you do contribute something, maybe not to the rent but at least to basic house hold expenses, as the eco might take it that you are on third party support.

Third party support is now allowed. What your solicitor wrote is acceptable.
I tell it like it is.

yes but it's fine. They will not refuse the visa because of this.

im still confused about 3rd party maintanance

my solicitor stated on my cover letter

"the sponsors approximate income is £........" furthermore the sponsor has accumulated savings of ............ the sponsor has ample savings and income which allow him to maintain his fiancee without any recourse to public funds"

"the sponsor resides at this property on a rent free basis and does not contribute towards housing cost, hence he has limited housing expenditure"

"we submit that he is in a sound financial position"

my question is from what i have provided does this show third party maintanance support from my parents?

though they pay for the accomodation and bills i pay for my own expenses from my own wages/savings and i'll also support my wife from my wages/savings. my parents do not provide me with any money

thank you everyone
