Holiday in April, passport runs out in july

My wife has ILR and we'd like to go on holiday to pakistan.
Problem is passport runs out in July 2010 but we'd like to go from april to may 2010.
Can she do that, will she be allowed back into the UK?
(i think i read somewhere you need 6 months on passport to travel?)

If she cant then she will apply for Natuarilisation as ive heard it can take 6 months plus. Then she can travel on her new passport next year, perhaps?

The UK has no such requirement. There would be nothing to stop her re-entering the UK with her valid passport and valid visa, and then applying for Naturalisation as British, when time-qualified to do so.
