Are you sure the person in question is a "dependant of a stamp 4"? Such people are usually issued Stamp 3 and are not permitted to study.

Since he has been studying, is he on Stamp 2?

Usually, time spent on Stamp 2 does not count towards naturalisation. Time spent on Stamp 3, however, does.

You will be just fine :)

just get a attendance letter from every school you were at since 2001
and same from your current college
then docs to confirm your status as a full time student
and docs to confirm your parents status here and their financial ability to support you

describe your story in a cover letter

DoJ do accept applications from people like you - my son just did that in April/May 2009.

Good luck

yes defintiely explain how you were granted status. put a copy of your mother's department letter in, and maybe her passport (to show stamps)

Remember, the Minister under Sections 15 & 16 of the citizenship act can use their discretion and waive certain requirements. You must spell it out to them as they department are not always with it or seem to try and refuse for any reason. The reality is that you have being in this country since you were a child and as part of family reunification etc. You would have applied had they given you stamp 3. you will note that there are many different threads in relation to the inconsistency of the GNIB when it comes to children and what stamp to give them.

Your position is completely different to that of a normal international student. you should have got stamp 3, but hey, at least you had freedom to be allowed to work during your school holidays and weekend if you needed the money

But had he have been issued Stamp 3, he would have been prohibited from going to school, no?

school as in primary or secondary school? hardly? Even if parent is not an Irish citizen, if they bring children / school going children here to reside, they are under an obligation to follow the laws (like anywhere else) one law is the requirement of attending school.

Considering the GNIB have being all over the place with the issuing of these stamps, I doubt they will pull the person up for having the wrong stamp if they lived with their parents. Still, you are right though, there is no definite answer, once again the our glorious Minister wants to keep things secret and then criticise people taking him to court in order to clarify matters
