Hi all,
I need help with my situation and many thanks in advance for your help.
Background:
- I am on ILR since August 21 2009 and plan to apply for UK Citizenship on August 23 2010 through Croydon NCS office
- With regards to Good Character section in the AN form, there is a question regarding employment status, employer+their address and my tax office address and reference
- I have been working with a bank in London since March 2006 and on PAYE since then
- I plan to resign in April 2010
- I am within the residencial qualification period over the past 5 years, but on the last 12 months since ILR, I will have around 145 days outside the UK
- This is because once resign, I will take on overseas assignment in Doha Qatar in which I will plan to return to UK in mid August 2010 to launch my UK citizenship
- I am comfortable in fulfilling the discretion requirement due to my total absences from UK will be around 100 and 180 days (i.e. 145 days) but within the overall 5 years qualification limit
My questions:
1. to fulfill the last bullet point above, it is mentioned that I need to have link (family and owned home are in UK), but not sure with what they mean by substantial estate is also in UK?
2. will my change of employment from UK employer to overseas employer since April 2010 affect my application? FYI, I have no issue at all with my tax affair since I arrived in UK in August 2005
3. I plan to report my change of UK tax status to HMRC once I resign in April 2010 (though I do not have to do this immediately)...I think I need to use one of those P85 form -- will this too affect my qualification or application to UK Citizenship? FYI, I will remain in compliance to whatever the impact is for my new tax status, i.e. I will pay my National Contribution manually on my own and will need to account for any income I bring to UK from overseas and pay tax on it on Self-Assessment basis.
4.My family (wife and 3 kids + 1 newborn) are also on ILR with me but they are all will remain in UK and thus will have no problem in term of their absences in UK, but will their application be affected by my work situation above, i.e. in a worse scenario, UK HO refused my citizenship application.
Again, my sincere appreciation for your help in advance. I do also apologize, if the question above has been addressed somewhere in the past as I did research for quite sometime in the forum but could not find a perfect match.
Thanks. Destoro.
