Hk or Uk?

Post by watercressman » Sat Jan 09, 2010 4:35 am

I'd like some help or information about marrying someone from hong kong please. My girlfriend is 28 and has lived in hong kong all her life,
I am from the uk, but also have a hk id card (3 star right of abode) i don't like hk so the plan is for her to come and live with me in the uk, I would like to know get married in hk or uk? i have been told to get married in hk and then applie for a spouse visa for her to come over, also she is planning to visit me very soon so could i get married in the uk this would be so much more covenient for me. She would have no problems in coming to the uk using hk sar would enable to her get 6 months visa, basically in a nutshell i dont have much faith with the immigration system delay delay and more delay, any advice will be greatly appreciated :D

I'm not an expert in this area.

I think though, that a HK SAR passport holder would need a fiancée visa in order to enter the UK in order to get married.

If you marry in HK, your wife would then need a Spouse Visa in order to come to the UK.
