Anybody use HSBC Statements for Maintenance Funds?

Post by paribus » Tue Jan 19, 2010 9:21 pm

I am planning to apply for Tier 1 General next month and wish to clarify a section of the maintenance funds requiremements which states:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Personal bank or building society statements covering the previous three-month period
The personal bank or building society statements should clearly show:

the name of the main applicant and/or the family member making the application, or (for children only) the name of their other parent who is also legally present in the United Kingdom;
the account number;
the date of the statement;
the financial institution's name and logo;
transactions covering the three-month period;
that there are enough funds present in the account for the past three months.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I bank with HSBC and normally received monthly statements sent through the post and this usually covers 4th (month 1) - 4th(month 2). However the only dates on these statements are the period covered but not the issued date of the statements.

Do I need to get another statements from HSBC with an issue date indicated on it or can I just combine my last 3 monthly statements to show maintenance funds.

Has anybody used HSBC statements to meet maintenance funds requirements, kindly provide details on how you went about this.

Kind regards

You can use those original bankstatements from HSBC with statement period which is enough n OK.. I used the same..

for maintenance funds you can use statements covering LATEST 3months

Thanks tvn_ramesh for the clarification. I forgot to include an important section I was equally worried about as below:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What the documents must show
If you are applying from within the United Kingdom, the balance must show that you have had at least £800 in your account at all times over the three-month period.

If you are applying from outside the United Kingdom, the balance must show that you have had at least £2,800 in your account at all times over the three-month period.

Evidence must be in the form of cash funds. Other accounts or financial instruments for example, shares, bonds and pension funds, regardless of notice are not acceptable.

If you wish to rely on a joint account as evidence of available funds, you must be named on the account along with one or more other named individual.

For applications made either in the United Kingdom or overseas, all evidence must be dated no more than one month before the application is submitted.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For the maximum 'one month date above' doesn't this indicate that my bank statements sent 2-3 months earlier cannot be used even though these will be for the 1st and 2nd month of the maintenance funds period?

I guess I just need to better understand home office take regarding this 'one month' limit and bank statements that are sent monthly through the post.

Many thanks for your time in contributing.

For applications made either in the United Kingdom or overseas, all evidence must be dated no more than one month before the application is submitted.
The latest bankstatement in your proof for maintenannce funds should not be dated no more tahn 1month on the date you apply..

This means if you are submitting your application today on 20th jan 10.. you latest bankstatement date should be after 20th December 09 which wil fall in the 1month category.. that means u can use bank statements from 21Oct 09 to 22nd dec 09 (this is example)..

This makes sense. Thanks for clarifying.
