Hi
I have been living in the UK since Oct 07. I have an extended Tier 1 General VISA, until Oct 2012. My boyfriend and I have been living together for two years, and we hope we have all the required information to prove we have been living together akin to marriage for two years.
He is returning to NZ in February to complete the online application to come onto my VISA. We have never completed VISA forms online before, and find it a little intimidating. We are going to apply from the UK, but say that he is already in NZ, as we want to complete this form together and be assured we have everything he needs so he can get his Biometric data taken as soon as he arrives home and post his application off. And get back to me in the UK ASAP!
I have a few questions. Does he require my original passport with my VISA in it? One site says the sponsor's passport is required-

Other sites says a copy is sufficient. Does anyone know which is definitely correct? As I will still be in the UK, it would be great to still have my passport on me, since he is returning to NZ for hopefully only two months. If a copy is sufficient, must it be signed to say it is a true copy of original? Can my doctor sign this? Or is a plain old unsigned photocopy good enough?
My second query is, we did a dummy run through the online application, without saving, and it asks for main applicants normal residency. I am not a UK resident as such, but I do "normally" reside here - for now. Do I put UK down for this, or is my residence New Zealand, where I come from?
Anyone that has done the online application for dependents, from NZ, would be great if you could help out. Also what people used for proof for their relationship would be great too. We currently have a joint bank account going back two years, mail coming to same addresses for two years, letter from his employer stating he declared me as next of kin, letters from estate agents confirming both our names on tenancies for two years, photographs from travels (corresponding to stamps in passports) going back three years, and unfortunately we only ever had one flatshare bill in both our names (council tax) going back only 18 months. Hopefully this is enough.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
