ILR confusion

Post by tgolden » Sat Jan 23, 2010 5:28 pm

I need some help understanding my particular situation. I am an American who has been married to my wife (who is British) for the passed 17 years. I had an ILR issues in 1999 and lost it due to being in the U.S. for more then 2 years without returning to the U.K.

I have reapplied in 2008 as we have decided to move back to the U.K. and settle. I have been in the U.K. since Oct 2008 and am now getting around to taking my Life in the U.K. test and applying for my ILR.

My confusion is around the costs involved. When I originally applied for my visa in 2008 I had a call from the Embassy explaining to me that I applied for the wrong visa as I was already married to a British National and the cost was increased. I paid 1082.00 US dollars at the time. My visa states number of entries: MULT - Type: SETTLEMENT SPOUSE/CP(KOL REQ)

Once I apply do I pay an additional cost for my ILR? I was under the impression that once I did my "Life in the uk" test I would have my ILR processed and it was all part of the initial cost in 2008.

Can someone help clarify if I am needing to pay an additional fee for the ILR?

Thanks for your help. Great site. It has helped me with many other questions I have had
