Student Visa

I am aware that one can work on a student visa for 20 hours a week during school and full time during holidays, but when does that start? I am looking to come to the UK to do a masters in Sept and was wondering if I could work there during the summer before my course starts?

Your visa has a time span, and it certainly might not start on the resumption month. If for example the ECO issues you with a visa commencing July, you certainly can come in withing the validity period before school starts.
My younger sister whose masters programme commences Feb 06 was issued with a visa commenceing Nov 05, she is here already working prior to resumption.
