Overstayer + Want to get Married

Hi All

i really need some advice here and have found this site useful over the years.

so to start with i am an overstayer, well as the home regards me. i came to the country about 19 years ago and applied for indefinite leave about 7 years ago, based on long residency and that all my family links are here in the UK with British citizenship. due to home office complications i am yet to be granted ILR , a recent letter from HO to my MP stated they will not be looking at my case until 2014. i have asked for permission to work on several occasions and i have been sent a generic response that my current status does not allow me to work. I also sign in once a month at the London bridge reporting center, i don't know how they expect a 30 yrs old man not to work but pay for the expensive transport fee to sign on

leaving above matter apart, i have been with my girlfriend for about 7 years now. we really want to get married and plan to do so in a Anglican church. As this will be a big wedding we have decided to apply for a COA to get married in a registry beforehand.

Questions[/u]

1. Any Advice on speeding ILR application or getting permission to work ?
2. will getting married assist - any application i could add to my existing ILR forms.

I am considering applying under the 14 year Long Residency rule, I must say your experience does not give me cause for optimism. I to have British familiy ties and a 8 year long relationship.
Using you MP is the best way to contact the HO and try get them to speed up your application. As you have already, and the reply they gave you is absolutely ridiculous. You should ask your MP to contest their reply as their is no reason why the decision should take so long
The 14 year rule is designed to regularize “over stayersâ€

Hi There - many thanks for the above info. I have to say I do find this forum useful and stress reliving.

Pls don't let me ruin your desire to submit you application to the HO, inshort the earlier the better it is for you.

i was detained because i traveled to NI to buy a car and was stop by a immigration officer. cut the long story short i was taken into custody because my so called solicitor never submitted my file despite taking £1500+ from me.

I will say have s strategy in place to counter attack them . Send them all documents highlight and stressing each point and factor as needed. Also refrain from sending them any work document to them initially as they may use that or intend to use it against you.

Anyway i spoke with my MP today and they will contest the the reply received from the HO and they will also send over my medical records highlighting the effect of stress, anxiety and depression. I hope and pray this changes the way the magnificent HO view my case.
