UK visiting visa for adopted children

Post by thaipapaya123 » Thu Feb 04, 2010 9:53 pm

hello everyone,

Now i have Thai and British passports,i'm now living in UK with my british partner (civil partnership). i have 2 adopted daughters (girls) in Thailand (they are 10+11 years old BUT they have Thai passports only, they live with my mum in Thailand).

by next year, my partner and i wish them to visit this country,we will support them everything when they are here. we will go with them to the british embassy in Thailand to apply the visiting visa to come to the UK.we will fly with them and be with them all the time. we have a house,we have enought money in our accounts to support them in this country.we want them to be here around 2 weeks.

***Will it be easy for them to get the visa???will any problems come along???

-we went to Hong Kong with them on holiday (first time went outside Thailand)
-i am the only one person who is their father (in documents in Thailand, my british partner's name is not in the document in Thailand).Thailand does not recognize civil partnership.it means i'm a single man when i 'm in Thailand.

please give information

thank you so much,everyone.

I think that since they were given a visa to visit HK and you and your partner are British and you have adoption papers, then you should have no problems in getting permission to visit UK.
You can look on Thailand immigration site for further confirmation where you might fnd someone with more specialist knowledge

If you have adopted your daughters under Thai law, do you want them to have British citizenship?

I'm not sure if Thai adoption is recognised in Britain. If yes, you could apply for them to be registered as British citizens. If no, they would need to be re-adopted in the United Kingdom.
