going to czech republic via london..need help

Post by knapps » Sun Feb 07, 2010 9:50 pm

i have an eu4 fam card and i want to visit my wife in czech . I want to fly from Cork to london and then brno czech . i dont need czech visa but i need to know for london. Can they let me get on the plan at cork airport without uk visa. I dont want to go to dublin to get a uk family permit as no time. i dont want to fly from dublin to prague as waste of time of 6 hours ...anyone recently travelled to uk on eu fam card or no card as in uk no one checks passports..

First of all Dublin is very easy route for you but since u don't want
to use that then u need to get UK visa
And if you are using Ryanair then I don't think so they will let you get in and in UK its same as always sometime there are people to check passports and sometimes no one.
Are you sure you don't need visa to Czech? your wife is from Czech?

So you got visa because of your marriage but your wife lives in her home country ?? isn't she supposed to be exercising her treaty rights in Ireland for you to be there ??

dont be judgemental. She lives in Ireland but she went for an operation and in the hospital since last month courtesy to Irish hospitals who were not able to figure out that she had a tumor in her stomach visiting them for the last one year......so, she is there only for 3 months....Yes, i dont need a visa to any EU country except the UK as they dont let people use their EU rights. so, i will take a dublin route unwillingly

knapps,

Carry the following documents and your travel cannot be refused by the airline:
  • your passport
  • your Stamp 4 EUFam Residence Card
  • your marriage certificate
  • proof that your wife is currently in the Czech Republic
  • proof that she has been resident and economically active in Ireland
  • your itinerary as proof that the Czech Republic is your destination.

Hi Benifa!
One question just for information for example if OP is married to Czech citizen doesn't he need visa to travel to Czech?
I am confused because my friend is married to a Polish citizen and holds EUfam and they asked him to get visa because he can travel to whole EU but Poland.
Here is link check it they wrote with red color.

No. The ECJ ruling on Singh applies. In the case of the OP, the spouse is a Czech national who has been engaged in economic activity in Ireland and who is now in the Czech Republic.
