Wedding/Visitor Visa - Question

Hi,

I am a british citizen and my wife is south-american.
We were married in a civil ceremony last year and she is here on a settlement/marriage visa (2 year)

We are planning this year to have a religious (christian wedding) and would like to invite her parents from southamerica.

Apart from the obvious doucmentation what proof can I provide of the forthcoming wedding?
Ive thought of creating a wedding invitation to enclose in the proof.

Is there anything else I can provide in order to proof the wedding is taking place.

IMO you may have to process Visa under General Vistors category for her parents and the documentation required in that case would be as per the guidance.

I would suggest you apply for a FAMILY Visitor Visa (Form VAF1B), as opposed to GENERAL Visitor Visa (Form VAF1A).
This is because her parents are obviously family.
Also, you have right of appeal incase of a Family Visitor visa being refused, again, as opposed to the General one.
A wedding invitation is good. But perhaps you could also include proof of booking the venue, where the wedding is taking place, if you have one. (Making sure that the date corresponds with the one on the invitation, of course! )
In your invitation letter, do explain that this is now a religious /christian wedding, as the ECO might be confused as to why you are inviting them to your wedding when you are already married! Sounds unecessary, I know. But remember, common sense is not that common!
Make sure that they are able to provide proof of intent to return to SA after the wedding (ie. work, family ties, property, community ties, finances, etc.)

Family visitor not General Visitor Visa is better and more likely to succeed.

There is a difference in what you will provide for each type of visa

One point to bear in mind...although you may already be aware...you can have a 'wedding blessing'...but not a second wedding.
