Cover letter is a media to explain yourase to the Caseworker if there are any complications.. its upto you want to make use of this opportunity..

Nothing to joke about. I know a lot of people who have enclosed a copy if their CV with their HSMP application. 5 years back, maybe not now.

Also, if you can see sticky 'Tips for all' by JhonnyECU you can see he has listed CV in his 'application assembly'

Not saying CV is necessary now or even 5 years back. Just saying how it was 5 years back.
