Tourist in Ireland wanting to travel to Europe

Post by mdg » Mon Mar 01, 2010 5:20 pm

Hello,

I am planning a trip to Ireland to visit my boyfriend. I'm from South America (don't require a tourist visa) and I'm traveling to the UK first for a job interview. Since it's an expensive ticket just to travel for an interview, I thought of spending 2 months with my boyfriend in Ireland. I'm already a bit nervous about it because i don't have a job here in my home country, but I will have a return ticket and funds during my trip, as well as a sponsor letter. So my questions are:

- Will they ask a lot of questions if I want to stay for 2 months? the max i've ever stayed there is 10 days, and I was studying in the UK back then.
- If given a 90 day visa, could I visit other countries in Europe and expect to return to Ireland using that same visa? I guess i'm asking if it's a multy-entry visa.

I really have no intention to stay and work in Ireland. My return ticket is from the UK. Are there any documents that I can present that will help me at immigration? Thanks

This is contradictory...you dont require a visa and you are asking whether you'll be given a multiple entry visa?
...though it tarries, it shall surely come...

You would first have to find out whether you are a visa national or not with respect to those other European countries you would like to visit. The UK and also Ireland have their own immigration systems. If you need a visa you will most likely have to apply for one in your home country/country of legal residence beforehand.

I apologise for not being clear.
I don't require a visa to enter Ireland, the UK or most European countries (in the Schengen area) as a tourist, for up to 90 days.

My entire trip is 2 months, but I wish to visit other countries as well. My final return will be from Dublin. Should i notify the immigration officer that I don't plan to stay in the country the entire time? I don't know if the stamp they put on my passport (Permission to remain in Ireland until...) means I can leave and re-enter Ireland multiple times in those 90 days, of if it's only for the first and only entry.

Thanks
