Urgent email received.

Post by Tippy » Sun Mar 07, 2010 4:11 am

I just received an email from the home office asking for some urgent information. Has anyone ever received something like this before?

Anyway, I sent an official bank statement for a three month period. I put the 800 quid in the account on October 19th. The official bank statement covers the period Oct 19th- January 15th, 2010.

In this email, they say they want additional statements covering October 15th-19th, 2009. there was nothing in the account up till that point. And in actual fact if they want three months, then it should statements from January 15th-19th they should be asking for, no?

Common sense says that i should send them my most recent statement but common sense and immigration are sometimes strange bedfellows.

I should probably submit a cover letter explaining the situation too.

you are lucky they have given you chance to explain it. many people got straight rejection for not showing amount for whole 3 months.

Did you pay in lump sum of 800 pounds in that account. try giving them evidence from where you transferred that amount from. If that account is on your name then it doesnt matter at all but if not, then explain that you transferred amount and maintained it until now...

They count backwards for 3 month period requirement. so the date your statement was issued is day 1 and you should have 800 pounds from day 1 till day 90.

hope it helps

i guess i am lucky.

i transferred the 800 to my savings account, it was totally empty prior. i transferred it from my checking/general account.

am i right in understanding you that if i show them that i had the money in that account from Oct 15 (i'll have to confirm that) to the 19th, it might suffice?

bear in mind because i pay for everything in that account so most of the time its under 800...

PS. I did show for the whole 3 months. HSBC ends its quarters on the 15th of the month. So the official statements for both accounts end Jan 15th even though I requested them on the 20th of Jan.

PPS. the money came thru to my checking on the 19th of october, i transferred the 800 to my savings that same day.

Just read that they count backwards not forwards. Che soffrenza!

your other account must show that you had atleast 800 pounds from oct 15 - oct 19.

explain that its the other day-to-day account in your name.

you should be fine if thats the case.
