Married overseas after granted a fiancee entry clearance

Post by hannatam » Thu Jan 05, 2006 5:19 pm

Hi there,

I am a HK citizen. October, 05, I granted a Fiancee
entry clearance visa to UK, valid from 1/1/06 to end
of July 06. Stating on the entry clearance "Marriage
(name of my husband who is a UK National)".

Whereas shortly after that, my husband's (boyfriend at
that time)parents planned to visit my parents in HK.
Therefore, we rescheduled our wedding to 31st
December, 05, took place in HK. By doing so, parents of both sides could participate in our wedding.

Given this, the status of my sponsor and I
is no longer finance/fiancee. We are now husband and
wife instead.

I have now booked a ticket to London, departing on the
1st Febraury.

I would like to ask if i need another entry clearance,
since our status has been changed.

As my departure
date is approaching. I am very worried that i might
got refused to enter the country owing to the above
reason. But last time when I applied for the entry clearance, the whole process was completed in 3 days. So I bet if i need to re-apply, it would be quick as well. Even so, if I need to have it done, I know I better do it now now.....

I look forward to seeing your reply. Much appreciation for you help in advance.

yours faithfully,
Hanna

You need to apply for a settlemnt/spouse visa. Your existing 'fiancee visa' is now invalid...
Where there is a will there is a way.

JUST DON'T TELL THE IMMIGRATION OFFICERS AT THE PORT OF ENTRY IN UK. IF YOU DON'T TELL THEM THEY WON'T KNOW. PROBLEM SOLVED :P

This really is pathetic, confused1, and doesn't solve any problem at all. It would clearly result in OP being in UK unlawfully, having come here with the stated purpose of marrying, and then not being able to do so.

Can you please make an effort to think before you post? Chess's original reply was perfectly correct.

Thank you.

I totally agree with the advice here from Chess, especially as the marriage took place before the fiancée visa has been used at all.

And hannatam, whilst that is a hassle there in HK, it will actually save you money. The cost of applying for the spouse visa is about £260, or rather the equivalent payable in local currency. But converting a fiancée visa to a spouse visa in the UK would have cost at least £335, but you will be saved that expense.

Confused1, any more posts of yours that I see in Block Capitals will be deleted without warning. And as regards what you post , I totally agree with ppron747.
