Self employed and housing benefit

Post by hamid84 » Wed Mar 10, 2010 10:49 pm

Hi,

I recently became self employed and running a small electronics shop. So far it's been dead and no profit at all.

I am renting a shop for which im paying per month. There is 2 bed rooms flat upstairs which landlord has agreed to offer me for an extra cost.

My question is, can i apply for housing benefit for that flat? Im currently living with parents and want to move out.

Thanks

Given that you have ILR, you can claim any benefits that your circumstances dictate you are entitled to.

Thanks for quick response John. As usual im thankful.

Point im trying to make is that will council allow me to claim HB while i have a shop downstairs?

At the moment, i have tenancy agreement for shop but landlord can issue another one for flat.

Also would i be able to get council tax benefit?
