This is what legal immigrants feel when they apply for Irish citizenship.

We have to deal with response times that are not honoured, no information on the status of applications, and arrogant comments from officials.

For them, it always comes down to the fact that Irish citizenship is not a right and we should not dare to demand anything. For us, it is a humiliating experience.

I think it's pointless to try instilling proper customer service standards in those organisations. Their culture is not suitable for it.

The process should be outsourced to private companies, inherently performance-based and driven by cost-effectiveness and customer focus.

Aye, how ironic. Ya really do have to sympathise with the immigrants on this particular one. Demanding pay rises and stopping cuts. No disrepect to those people but what qualifications are actually needed to carry out their jobs in the passport office. Are they indespensible? Are they decision makers? NO.

This carry on with the lazy civil servants across all the department is getting more nauseating by the day. I say Outsource their jobs and damn the consequence. We've seen examples of what outsourcing can achieve with the driving test situation. Nuff of this shenanigans. Next INIS
