what does dvla do dealing with invalid visa in my passport

my mate has applied for a provisional licence with invalid visa in her passport.her visa has run out a year ago but explained it to DVLA the passport itself is valid before submitting it for identification purposes.does she risk being deported back to ghana in africa? by the homeoffice?the passport is genuine and has not been forged or anything?please i need urgent advice? thanks

How is she proposing to get insurance for driving without valid leave?

I know of an actual case where this exact thing happened, a friend had overstayed and applied for a license, end result was she got deported.

Definitely not worth the risk.

Government departments can pass on information about crimes, overstaying is a crime and one that actually can attract a maximum sentence of 6 months in prison. Perhaps your friend should go home or seek to regularise her stay in the UK.

An excellent example of the perils of overstaying.

Evading the authorities until you want/need something is easy. When you need a licence or travel plans outside the UK or need permission from authorities, then the complaints or asking for advice is needed.

You can't have your cake and eat it!

So she's an overstayer and sent them her passport? This will be passed on to UKBA, and it's only a matter of time before the local enforcement team come looking for her.
It beggars belielf that she really thought she could acquire some right to drive in the UK when she's got no right to be there.
The best thing she can do is to make her plans to wind up her affairs in the UK, then go along to the local immigration office and tell them that she wishes to go home voluntarily at her own expense. That may diminish the period of ban from returning to the UK.

Living in Leeds as I do I hope this person does the honourable thing and pack up and leave, I don't want my kids at peril from an not-very-bright uninsured illegal immigrant....
