Entering the UK

Post by tereshchenko » Wed Feb 15, 2006 3:35 pm

What documents are required to enter UK for the first time?
Obviously passport with visa, but what else? HSMP letter?

You need to bring documents with you, but not just to clear immigration. So certainly you need your passport, with its EC, and also the HSMP letter, but also things like birth certificate and driving licence.

In order to get a job any university degree certificate(s) would clearly be useful, as would any professional qualifications and job references.

As John said - Your passport and your HSMP approval letter.

At the immigration counter they will examine your passport and the residence permit sticker on it and if they ask you should also have your approval letter. They will not ask for anything else

Hi Wazir,
Don't the consular officer keep the original hsmp approval letter, when we go for EC stamping.

Thanks
