Tier 1 .. is second extension needed for this case?

Post by joy_kavee » Fri Apr 09, 2010 1:45 am

Applied for Tier 1 General at overseas british consulate on 27th Feb 09 . Deposited application and paid appropriate fees.

I took my passport back as i had to travel.

Tier 1 was approved on 10th march 09 ( was informed via e-mail)

Went to get passport stamped at the british consulate on 10th June 09

Travelled back to UK on 27th June 09

Tier 1 Stamp shows valid from 06/09 till 02/12 ( This is less than 3 years, i assumed that they calculated from the time tier 1 was submitted which was on 27th Feb 09)

Question : When i apply for first extension , i will get 2 years .

Whats happens after the 2 years is a bit of a worry. It seems that i don't qualify for the 5 years IDL due to the fact that the visa was approved in march , i went to collect the stamp few months later.

So, is there such a thing as second extension fro tier 1 general?
How long is it issued for?
Is it something official as i have not seen any form that mentions SECOND extension to tier 1 general?

Also for tier 1 general second extension, what criterias do they based them on ? on the initial application or on the first extension ?

Help will be much needed. Thanks in advance. Please look at the dates carefully.

You can get a second extension, same rules apply as when you get the first one.

Your original visa should have been dated until around 10 march 2012, it should be 3 years from approval date, or date of travel if specified.

Also I thought that requesting a passport back cancels the application, obviously not in your case.
