Newbie with naturalization question

Post by curlygirl » Sat Apr 10, 2010 6:07 pm

I recently got my ILR through my work permit. But I am also married to a British citizen (for 3 years). I was told that I could go for my citizenship sooner than the one year due to being married to a citizen for so long. Is this true?

Welcome. Yes it is correct, because you now have ILR and are married to a British citizen you can apply based on 3 years stay. You have to have ILR but there is no minimum time.

See Here

Make a note of the residential and absence requirements, especially the requirement that you have to have been physically present in the UK exactly 3 years before the date that your application reaches the UKBA
