What visa is each of you on?ken_sk44 wrote:Hi all
I am thinking of marrying my American fiancee here in London and neither of us is a citizen of the EEA (ie we are both not British or European). Do we still need to apply for this "certificate of approval" ? Basically, should we wait for the government to permit us get married ? FYI we are not thinking about the church of England (don't have £400).

U will need a CoA (free), so would she technically but I doubt u'll have enough time, given the six month limit on her visa. Anyway even if there was time she'd still not be able to switch to dependant on ur visa - in-country switching is not allowed. Trip home for correct visa from USA.
But, as I said, not enough time most likely so I feel you have two options;
1. U marry abroad and she enters UK on PSW Dependant visa applied for from USA.
2. She goes home, applies for marriage visit visa, marries you with ur CoA and again goes home to apply for PSW Dependant visa.
Maybe you are confusing Lust with Love? One lasts, one doesn't! And loving yourself is a Sin of Onan, stop it before you get hairy palms....ken_sk44 wrote:I am on a post study work permit and she is here on holiday visit. We love ourselves deeply :D but seriously this is what our status is.
