New Rules And Qualification

Post by MCP » Wed Apr 14, 2010 6:15 pm

A while back I thought that only masters degree holders could receive a Tier 1 permit (if they got the other required points).

A friend recently told me that the rules have been changed and now bachelors degree holders can also receive some points.

I would like to know if this is correct and also if the experienced people here believe that my qualification is likely to be accepted. I have a bachelors degree in acc/fin from the university of london external program which I completed in 2003 and did it in pakistan without going to the UK (The link is http://www.londonexternal.ac.uk/prospec ... ndex.shtml). Also, would this qualification be acceptable for "English language [10 points available]" question?

Would appreciate if you can checks and let me know. Other than this I am 30, and have the required maintenance funds, and my salary should get me 35 points.

Please guide

Check the PBS calculator and see if it gives you points for your qualification and for english language requirement. You head correct that from April 6th , bachelors degree is also awarded points.

Aruni4470, thanks for your reply.

It cannot be found exactly in the PBS. Reason is:

Country of Study= Pakistan
Qualification = Bachelors
So far so good
Institution or body = Not found
Why? because it is University of London, so wont be found in Pakistan list

Other option is:
Country of Study= United Kindom, the
This is not true as I did not study 'in' the UK
Qualification = Bachelors
Institution or body = University of London

I hope this explains the problem better, and why I am asking for help on forum :oops:

Oh sorry MCP, I did not read your first post properly (my fault).

This is indeed a tricky situation. I would suggest you get a certificate of comparability from NARIC.

In Tier 1 General, it accepts recognised Qualifications.
Where you studied it from does not count, what counts is who awarded your Degree, in your Case - University of London, so you have to see Country as United Kingdom and not Pakistan because University of London is not located in Pakistan. Your Qualification is classified as Part time, so during your study you are a part time student of University of London.
Your Qualification is 120% acceptable for Tier 1 general, but not for PSW
