QUERY FOR JOINT JSA IF CHILD

Post by kishan » Mon May 03, 2010 12:28 pm

I have following query regarding claiming JSA
I am living with my wife and I have 3 and half year old child, both I and my wife are not doing job so we decided to claim JSA so I have a following question
1. Can we claim joint jsa claim?
If yes then both of we have to show that be “actively looking for workâ€

Yes, you can make a JSA claim. I do not know how signing arrangements work for couples though. If you do not have anyone to look after your child when you go to sign, then they will simply give you two different days to sign on. You can put a JSA claim over the phone or online, but still you will have to go in for an interview. Best would be to ring or walk into your local jobcentre.
