Post by karpu » Fri May 07, 2010 6:08 am

Hi Team,

I am from India got my Tier 1 and planning to leave next month to UK. I am working on MS technologies from long time but which are outdated in today’s market but some of my friends told that these technologies are having good demand in UK market.

Just I want to check what the market is for Visual Basic 6.0 programmer and VBA Macro Word and Excel programmers.

I am good at SQL Server also please suggest do I need to learn any other technologies

Waiting for the updates

Karpu,

My honest suggestion would be to do a lot more research in India before you think of leaving your current job. Just browse through the job sites and see for yourself if there are any openings for VB etc.
If you have loads of money which you would like to spend, I seriously recommend you to come straight away !!
Do a thorough research on the market and get in direct touch with Employers or Employement agencies and only then make a call.

Cheers!

The only few VB6 and VBA jobs I've seen in the past 2-3 yeas all involved migration to C# or VB.NET - so hardly a popular skills and quickly dying out.

I strongly agree with *FC*. Do not just fly to UK without detail research unless you have tons of money. The living expense is terribly expensive. I have not seen much vacancies with VB or VBA. Mostly VB, VBA skilles are needed for me as a part of project but I have not seen specified position just for VB, VBA. I think .NET market is good through.
