I am UK citizen wife for 5 years, my husband passed KOL test in UK, now he is going to apply for ILR in UK embassy in Bahrain, my question is: do i need to travel with him or does it require me to be in UK while my husband traveling to UK?

He won't be able to enter the UK on his visa if you are still in Bahrain.

It's better if you're there to meet him, just in case immigration need to call you.

Assuming the home country allows dual nationality, one can enter / exit the UK on a British passport and enter/exit home country using the passport of that country.

In your case, your husband' passport will be endorsed with an ILE vignette. He won't be getting a British Passport (yet).

Sorry, I did not understand. How immigration will know if am outside of uk since I did not my uk passport to exit uk last year, I used my forign passport. We are going to settel but I can't leave bahrain now as I am pregnant and my mother who is taking care of me can't travel to uk with me. Plz advice of alternative solution

Delay your husband's travel to UK until you can accompany him.

If he has not yet entered UK using ILE visa, the he can enter anytime during the validity of the visa (for validity of ILE, see link above). But once he enters UK as a settled person using ILE, then he cannot stay outside UK for more than 2 years continuously else he will lose his settled status!

Thanks for your valuable information, I will hold my husband till I deleiver the baby, then travel together to UK.
I have a friend of mine UK national wife, she in job contract till 2011, her forigner husband always traveling to UK for business and wanted to apply for ILE. Her Question is, her husband having 5 years multple entery visa will exprie on 2013, can he apply for ILE in bahrain uk embassy? Or he should wait till his visa expire. Is it possible to apply while visit visa valid?

Sure, no problem.

An applicant may hold more than one valid entry clearance, for example a regular traveller already holding a longer period multiple visit visa can be issued with a visa for another purpose. When issuing a second visa, the applicant should be advised to explain to the Immigration Officer on arrival in which capacity he/she is seeking entry to the UK.

hi,
my friend got Entry Clearance as she married to UK citizen husband, her question is can she enter UK without her husband physical appearance as he is in job contract? she did Knowledge of UK life test. she has been told that after 6-April-2010 rules got changed and she are allowed, can u plz confirm?
