WORK PERMIT TO TIER 2

Post by krishnaca2004 » Tue May 18, 2010 8:01 am

Dear Friends

I am currently in the UK as work permit holder since october 2006 and my visa is due for extenstion in oct 2010. Can you please help me with the following:

a. Should my extension be applied under Tier 2 category?

b. Is there any minimum balance that I should maintain in my bank account? If so, please advice the amount

c. Should my employer apply for Sponsor License before applying for my extension or can my employer apply straight away?

d. How long will it take for my employer to obtain Sponsor License?

e. Will there be any Home Office visit prior to visa decision?

f. I am earning what was stated in my last work permit application (although my salary has increased) and paying taxes, NI, Council taxes etc., regularly. Will these be considered when deciding my application?

I am planning well in advance for my visa so that there is no last minute panic.

Since I am not used to these applications much (employer did everything during my first visit), I would be grateful if you can clarify on above points and any other points that you feel necessary for me to know.

Kindest Regards
Krishna

WORK PERMIT TO TIER 2

Post by krishnaca2004 » Thu May 20, 2010 1:40 pm

Hi

Thanks for your reply. the link says:

If you currently have a multiple entry work permit, you cannot apply to extend your stay under the transitional arrangements. To continue working in the UK after your work permit expires, you must return to your normal country of residence and make a new application under the points-based system.

Does it mean that I have to return to India and apply under Tier 2? Further Transitional Arrangement A says:

You can apply under transitional arrangement A if you are currently in the UK and you were last granted permission to stay here as:
a business and commercial work permit holder (this does not include multiple-entry work permits);

I am confused as to the category and also wondering if i should go back to India to apply for extension or can I apply for extension staying within the UK.

Thanks Krishna

See What is a work permit?
I believe MWEP doesn't apply to you.

Hi

Thanks. Yeah MEWP doesn't apply to me.

So my employer need to get a Sponsor License before I can apply for extension.

Please confirm my understanding and also advice if I have to maintain any minimum bank balance.

Thanks Krishna
