Switch from Tier 1 PSW to Tier 4

Post by kkrush » Thu May 20, 2010 3:50 pm

Hi, I'm current working under Tier 1 PSW.

I am going to studying for a full time masters course starts this year Oct.

Does anyone know: if I apply and obtain my student visa before Oct, will my PSW be invalid? - Would I still be able to continue my current job if I get my student visa?:?:

If not, what are you suggestions? To resign 1 month before term starts and apply for visa? I'm a bit sceptical about HomeOffice's processing speed tbh...

Many thanks!

When does your PSW expire? Obviously when you switch to a Tier-4 Visa, your PSW will no longer be valid.. You would be allowed to work 20 hours a week which is what student visa regulations state. Apply for your student Visa atleast 2 months before your course starts to counter unwanted delays..

Thanks for your reply.

My PSW expires in mid-Oct. Term starts 1st Oct.

So there no 'start date' on Tier 4 visa?

I think I will send out application form Mid-July (gives 2.5 months processing time), and resign early Sep. As long as the new visa doesn't get approved before I resign I should be fine?

Does it mean:

If my new student visa starts in Oct 1st.
And my current PSW expires in Oct 10th.
That I can work until late September?

Or do I have to resign as soon as I get my student visa?

PSW visa to Tier 4 student visa

Post by YasarBH » Wed Jun 02, 2010 8:14 pm

Hi there,
Does anybody has confirm information about how many times an individual can get PSW visa. I mean if I change my PSW to Student tier 4 visa then on completing this can I get again PSW?

PSW is once in a life or it can be acheived after completing every Masters degree.

Regards
Yasar

That sucks. What is the point of having a visa start date then...

Does anyone know what would my visa status be meanwhile if i receive my student visa in August, but it starts as the term starts (1st Oct)?

Maybe I need to negotiate with HR to switch my title to student intern, since student visa allows me to work full time during vacation period, as long as it's not a permanent role!
