NHS & Banks

Post by b.victor72 » Thu May 20, 2010 4:47 pm

Hi,

I am finally in UK. I wanted to know what is process to enroll to NHS & GP's. I spoke to them and they said i'll require a job before i get enrolled.

Also any banks where i can open an account with just a visa and no job ?

Also any thing else migrants should consider ?

Thanks!

First of all, what kind of visa do you hold?

Tier 1 (General)

There're two things you need to register at a GP practice and to open an account in a bank:
1. A copy of your visa.
2. Proof of address in UK (e.g.- tenancy agreement, utility bills, council tax bill etc.).

The GP cannot refuse to register you because you do not have a job! Some banks might tell you that they will not open an account for you until you prove that you're earning, though they shouldn't.

This said, please restrict your queries on this forum to immigration topics.
