Your parents ILR might not be enough for you to get British passport.

Can you pls let us know

When were you born?
Where have you lived since you were born?
Did your parents have ILR when you were born or did they have british citizenship?
What is their status now?

I was born in 1988
I've lived in uk since birth
I do not know if my parents have had ILR when i was born which i am trying to find out.
My parents became British citizens in 1992 after i was born.
Yes they are british citizens now

You can try to establish this by asking your parents whether they applied for citizenship soon after getting ILR or did they wait very long.

When did your father arrive in UK and on what basis?
When did your mother arrive in UK and on what basis?
Whats is their nationality of birth?
On what basis did they get ILR?
Did you ever travel out of UK eg as a child? If yes, do your parents remember what kind of travel document was used for your travel?

I am asking you so many things because, if it becomes somewhat clear that they didnt have ILR when you were born, then you wont be a british citizen unless they registered you as such, after getting their ILR. And if this happens to be the case, then I am afraid that you might find that you have no legal status in the UK at the moment and you will now have to register as British Citizen.

my mother and father came to this country by boat very long time ago
my mother and father was vietnamese at the time
ok so if my mother didnt have ILR at the time of my birth and my older brother has got his passport what does that mean?

thankyou for telling me these things i really need to know.

If your brother was born before 1 jan 1983, then he would be british by birth without relying on your mothers status.
If he was born after that date, then i think your mum had ILR before you were born. So think the best way would be to try and ask things from your family, note down any years they mention, try to have a good guess.
