Self Employment - Sole Trader

Post by bagula_bhagat » Thu May 27, 2010 11:17 am

Hi All,

Apologies for posting this pretty similar and often repeated question. However this may still be a doubt to many people including myself:

1. What are the 2 proofs that a Self Employed Person registered as Sole Trader with HMRC needs to show to claim points for Self - Employment under Tier-1 (G)?

2. Does the new clause of providing atleast 2 out of 7 other documents under 'Self Employment' category apply to a 'Self Employed (sole trader)' person as well?

Many Thanks
K

As a self-employed registered with HMRC, you need to so Self-Assessment. So you can present
1. Self Assessment Certificate
2. Your Accountant letter (if Any)
OR. Your Personal bank Account showing the transactions.

This will be enough the proof, but remember in self assessment, the more you claim you earned, the money you give to the Govt. :-)

Thanks 'PostMan' for your response. I do have little knowledge about tax payment.

However, what I would like to exactly is if someone is registered as a 'Sole Trader' with HMRC under Self-Employment category then will the new clause of presenting 2 extra docs out of 7 mentioned in PBS guidelines is required or not?

Thanks
