ok i am impressed with the timescales! Didn't believe it when I got the ILR stamped & delivered today. My timescales:

Applied: 26th Jan
Money Taken: 28th Jan
Further document request: 16th Feb (sent 17th)
ILR granted: 19th Feb.
ILR received: 22Feb.

FYI

Submitted application 1/12/09, confirmation letter received 3/12/09. Received my wife's stamped passport back 6/3/10 so about a 13 week wait. Also sent a letter to MP outlining need to travel due to personal reasons (death in family).

3 weeks exactly.

I was very worried as with travel already booked and reading some of the posts on this forum, the waiting times were not good. Good luck to everyone else and please don't worry, Im sure it will come very soon.

I didn't send any letters to my MP or contact the processing centre.

I was incredibly alarmed to discover 10 days before the expiry date that my visa was expiring! I immediately made an appointment to take the life in the UK test. I compiled no less than 20 documents (the majority of which were addressed to myself or my partner individually) and sent the application:

4 March - application sent
5 March - money taken out of account and letter sent
8 March - letter received
23 March - Passport arrived

Total time from submission to ILR granted: 2 weeks, five days (including weekends)

I did not receive a letter telling me that my ILR had been granted, it just came in the post.

I had put a Next Day 9am delivery envelope in my application to ensure quick delivery.

I was incredibly worried, but it all turned out ok in the end!

22 FEB Application sent
24 FEB Money taken from account
26 FEB letter received dated 23 FEB advising Application received and passed to caseworker.

30 MARCH ILR granted
31 MARCH passport and documents received

5 weeks 1 day from date they received application yay ! can now book our summer hols

Uncomplicated application and provided all documents as requested.

Would not advise anyone to leave life in UK test until 10 days before visa expires ?! as in most areas you have to book the test 2 weeks in advance!

Just to let you all know!!!! Had passport back today with permanent residence stamp !!!

Sent off application 10/02/10
letter of receipt 21/02/10
more documents requested 14/03/10
and today easter saturday everything returned and passport stamped!!!!3/03/10

We have just send of my husband's application for ILR today, I am already nervous, I have sent all the paperwork required but time to stress again!

Hope we get a quick response and for the ILR to be accepted.

Try not to stress if everything is ok your ILR will be granted.
I put a note on my calender for 14wks (the time you are allowed to contact them to ask about progress of application) luckily we never got there it came at 5 wks it seems things are taking between 3 and 13 wks you cant stress that long!! Dont plan any trips that just adds to the stress of having no passport and time lines!
I am sure you will be posting a note on here before not too long saying ILR granted!

Just checked bank today, the money has been withdrawn so that means they have received the application and are processing it......I hope we get a really quick reponse too, it's nice to know there are applications being processed within 3 weeks, heres hoping.......

How did you send it? If it's recorded delivery then check your reference number on the courier's website. You should have received a letter by now. However the money being taken out shows that they have received the application.

It has been 5 weeks since I have sent my application....oh the wait!!

I sent the application by Royal Mail Special Delivery. This is now I know the application was received on the 29/04/10.

I am guessing that the acknowledgement letter may have been lost in the post. However it does make you worry that something maybe wrong with the application form, or that they put the wrong address details etc.

Going through the process is stressful enough without something like this happening...

My wife's spouse visa expires on 3rd Feb 2011. She will have completed 2 years in UK on 7th Nov. We are planning to go to Brazil for Xmas and New Year. We were hoping to apply 7th Oct and pray that it arrives before 22nd Dec. However, if we returned on about 20th Jan is that too late to apply. My wife thinks she has heard somewhere that you have to apply 28 days before the visa expires. We know it is pointless asking HO for any clarification so wonder if you guys have any info

If your dates are tight in terms of trips abroad etc, I'd advise booking a Premium (Same Day) Appointment. If your application is straightforward and you prepare well for it, you shouldn't have any issues in walking away with your ILR that day.

However, there is always a risk that for (whatever) reason, they can't make a decision on that day and will need more time. This could well talk to up your holiday plans. My advice would be to make no holiday plans until you have that passport back in your hands.

They won't accept internet print offs. When I was gathering all my documents, I went into my local bank and explained the situation. They produced 3 months of bank statements for me, each page signed and stamped and a covering letter. Absolutely brilliant they were, speaking to the woman in the branch she does this all the time. (Natwest).

You still have some time before your application anyway don't you? Switch back to paper statements for the next few months. Will save you any hassle. Same applies to your utility bills. You'll be thankful come application time!

It's been 45 working days since my husbands application was submitted, so thats about 9ish weeks..

I think I may have inadvertedly delayed his application being processed.. I asked for my Biritsh Passport to be sent back to me so that I could change to my married name before my baby is born (due in 2 wks).. I made sure with the lady that it would not affect my husbands application and she reassured me it wouldn't.. but since then, i have read a few posts of people receiving ILR who sent their application off after me..

But there is nothing I can do about it for another 5weeks until I reach the 14wk mark... oh well..

It makes you stress more thinking something must be wrong with the application!

Could luck with the new born once he/she arrives, hope all goes well and he/she is in good health.

..Not as far as I know.

I've reached 14weeks today and rang them up to find out what was happening and they were as useful as a lead dinghy..

Going to write a letter requesting that the application be brought to the attention of a caseworker as soon as possible.

.. Does anyone have an address I can write to and has anyone ever sent a letter and then had their application promptly dealt with..?
