Please How Long a Tier 1 General Application Takes?

Hello all;
please can anyone advise on how long a Tier 1 (General )Application takes?
I applied about 5 weeks ago and we are still expecting (though initial application).
but the disturbing thing is this… my friends application took just about 12days – submitted on the 10th of May : visa granted/received on the 22nd of May. (though it was for extension)

I am getting troubled as I applied a week before him and this is the 5th week of my application.
moreso another friend applied for his wife and daughter (dependant) and this application took about 18 days.
please has anyone got a clue on what might be happening?

if you go to local website of VFS (i.e. of your home state/country) you can see the process time guideline based on timing of last month.

oh; it is with the HO
this was sent to the Home Office; it is the leave to remain application.
I am switching from tier1 PSW to Tier1 General
My current leave (PSW) expired last week.
