PSW Visa - any expiry due to not traveling to UK?

Post by sajinkkd » Wed Jun 02, 2010 8:03 pm

Hi, I got a PSW visa in Nov 2009. I applied that from India, and didn't travel to UK thereafter. I plan to visit UK for 1 week for attending a alumni meet in July 2010.

I request your valuable advises:
1. can I use PSW visa for visiting UK for a short period, for a reason like attending a alumni meet at the college?
2. In July 2010, it will be almost 8 months duration since getting the PSW visa. Is there any expiry of PSW visa due to not travelling to UK within a specific time? (after getting the visa, to make the first entry to uk?). I mean, at the Airport (prob at Heathrow), will I face any entry refusal/deportation due to this?

1) you can use your PSW for a short visit..
2) no, there is no specific time limit for you to travel..

Hi,

I will be applying for PSW in August and will go to UK for my graduation ceremony but will be there only for 10 days and then will be back to my country.

If I get a job after that say within 6-8 months of coming back from UK, then would I face any problem in entering the UK or will it be fine. Having a visa will be helpful in getting a job in UK.

Thanks for your reply. I found this link from UKBA on the latest date of arriving UK after getting a visa.
http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/faqs/5167621/2969423

This basically says entry is possible until the expiry of the visa, subject to entry clearance officer's (at the port of entry) decision.

Well, to follow-up with my question, given in top, what can be the questions I might face at the airport of entry if I am only coming to attend a conference? Since it will enhance my skills/knowledge, can I say that as a reason to visit UK under this visa? Since PSW is given for the purpose of finding a job and work in UK, can I use this visa for this visit? I called a lawyer and he said whatever I say must be convincing to the entry clearance officer a valid reason to come UK under PSW visa. But still thinking could it be a good reason...

I am somewhat confused on this. Hope some one will be able to give valuable advises and some other concrete reasons, if required..
