Post by mariakhan » Tue May 25, 2010 12:35 pm

Hi..I am Maria, working as an elec engineer in a multinational company.
i have two questions regarding Tier1 visa category.

#1. I am short of around 100k pakistani rupees in my previous earnings..I dont have any part time job and i wanted to know how i can show an increase in the earning so as to reach the benchmark.

#2. My husband has a work visa and is in UK.If i go on a spouse visa would i be able to work there professionally?

You can't.

Yes. It will be a dependent visa (not spouse visa) that you will apply for.

hi..thanx for your quick response.. :)
I am showing my gross salary plus the Provident fund plus the bonus in my previous earnings.IS there anything else which can be shown like the mobile benefits (non-cash)?I am just 5 points short in the Tier 1.
I prefer to go on independent visa actually..

you are taking a risk ..... there are MANY people short of 5 points ... and getting rejected beucase they show some additional work without paperwork ... case worker was very smart and understand the weak points of an application .... it's your choice after all .... there is a reason UKBA has raise the salary level and they going to make sure all paperwork is according to guidance.

I already know 2 people who got rejection ....

In your situation I wouldn't have looked for tier 1, but would have been happy with the dependent Visa, the Dependent Visa in UK gives you complete freedom to take up any job and based on my experience (many friends of mine), UK companies only need you to be legally eligible to work - Its tier 1 or Dependent doesnt matter.

So just don't worry about getting tier 1 as long as you can get dependent visa (will also save you some money). you would still be equally likely to find a good job.

Ashwin
