Claming housing allowance/tax credit/job seeker allowance

Post by sonia jahan » Thu Jun 17, 2010 4:20 pm

hi to all :) ....i just got my ilr this month :) and i would like to apply for council house/housing benefits and tax credit, because my husband back muscles are become ruptured and doctor told him that he is not fit for his retail security work  and he needs some rest right now he is on ssp but after 24 june he is going to claim job seeker allowance as he is actively searching for office job so there will be no standing,i am trying for a baby thats why out of work but due to my husband condition i am also searching for some work, we never claim any benefit before in our life so my question is can we claim for council house, housing benefits, tax credit and job seeking allowance all togather or we sould skip any 1 from the list?or which benefits we should apply first?,and moreover what else we can claim just for few months to cop with our expenses then my husband will resume his work for sure....thanks 4 ur kind help in advance :)

hi sonai
you can check you benefits on this site
https://www.turn2us.entitledto.co.uk/en ... lator.aspx
if you working then you get working tax credit
if you not working then you get JSA
if you working or not working you can get housing & council benefits

thanks

You can claim any of those benefits since you have ILR.
