Urgent advise needed - French Schengen visa

Post by lord_zeus » Thu Jun 17, 2010 7:12 pm

My sister who's a student in the UK is applying for a Schengen visa to accompany her parents (Indian nationals living in Dubai, have obtained Schengen visas) on a Europe trip this summer, with the 1st & main destination being France.

All the hotel reservation confirmation e-mails are in my father's name. The French embassy website however says that these need to be in the 'Visa national's' name.

Is this going to be an issue when she turns up at her appointment?

She will be showing copies of my parents' Schengen visas and their passports and obviously her passport has their names in the parents' section. Needless to say, she will show proof of funds as well as the fact that my parents will be supporting her during the trip.

Any advise will be greatly appreciated from this forum.

Difficult to say. It's cheeky but is there any way that she could book full-price, fully cancelable hotels in her own name for the stay and then cancel them after the application?

The French consulate website CLEARLY states that the accomodation, travel etc MUST have the FULL NAMES of the applicant. Having dealt with the French embassy a few times before, they are very clear about the rule book and even a single aberration means a REJECT !

However, you can call the embassy or email them your situation and ask them for advise. (Highly probable that they will send you a HTML link to their rules on website.)
