QUERY: ILR status but living outside UK

If my wife has ILR and is living outside the UK she would ordinarilly lose her ILR if she is outside the UK for more than 2 years.

However, if she returns to the UK during that 2 years for a 2-week holiday, is the two years reset to the date of the holiday? Or does she need to be present & settled for that to happen?

The requirement is to maintain UK ties. Using ILR as a glorified visit visa isn't cricket.
