Little advice please

Been reading through the forums and just delighted to see so many helpful people.

I hope someone help me as well.

I am trying to bring my wife to join me in the Uk.
The problem i am having is that i am currently unemployed and am looking for work. So financially i am not perfectly stable.

I am currently undergoing a course to obtain my SIA licence which will hopefully put me in a stable job.

My question is, can i make an application now to bring my wife over to join me with my current situation?

I am a British citizen and can show proof of housing, marriage certificate but do lack behind on the payslip.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

There are many people here more knowledgeable than I am, but my advice would be to wait until you have worked for a while so you can provide at least three months payslips and preferably six months payslips.

I don't know your situation but this will also give you time to accumulate a reasonable amount of savings as well.

There's a wealth of information on maintenance in this forum and the bare minimum you require left over from your wages after essential expenses such as rent/mortgage, utility bills and council tax is approximately £105 per week for a couple.

If you're claiming unemployment benefit then this won't be looked upon favourably. The ECO has to be satisfied that you can provide for yourself and your wife without recourse to public funds, in other words without claiming extra benefits.

Accomodation can,however, be provided by your parents if there is adequate space.

In the meantime it is imperative you can show clear proof of a subsisting marriage, i.e. proof of contact such as itemised phone bills (not calling cards) and/or emails, cards etc and I would suggest your wife brushes up on her English language speaking and listening skills due to impending legislation.

If I were you I would wait until I had a job because the application will most likely get refused on maintenance grounds. Do you have savings? How are you surviving financially right now?

Just one point. You only need to deduct rent/mortgage, council tax and any loan repayments in calculating the amount left per week. You don't need to include utility bills.
I agree 100% with the advice you've been given. If you are currently unemployed you will struggle to show how you will be able to support your wife in the UK without claiming additional benefits.

Apologies for that error, yes utility bills are not included in the calculation.

I guess the best thing for me is to wait and get a job first and then apply.

With regards to pay slips do i need 3 or 6? I guess more the better.

Would this haunt me even after i have a job in regards to the application?
Or were you referring it to my current situation if i had applied now?

Only referring to your current situation.

If you got a job then you will be ok. I believe three months is the absolute bare minimum but six months is highly recommended.
