Birth certificate missing - MN1 applications

Post by tinkit » Wed Jun 30, 2010 7:58 am

Hi all,

I've just applied for British citizenship for my South African children (I'm british by descent) under section 3(1).

Their original full birth certificates have been lost by the Student loans company. I had copies and the original short birth certificates, which I supplied at the nationality checking service.

Has anyone ever heard of people getting citizenship without the full birth certificate?

I have applied for new unabridged birth certs, but these could take up to 6 months according to SA consulate. If home office insist on these, will they be able to keep my application open awaiting these, or will they close it and I have to pay again?

Thanks
