Father returning to UK from US after 50 years!

Post by mick2me » Thu Mar 16, 2006 3:26 pm

My father was born in London UK, 1912 (yes he is 94)
He served in the UK armed forces in india in the 1930s, and served in the British army during the war.

In 1957 he emmigrated to Canada and then on to the USA.
He became naturalized in the US 1967.

I am a citizen of the UK. We are considering bringing him back to the UK.
Today I collected a passport application form fron the British Embassy here in The USA.They advised me to fill a lost or stolen passport form at the same time. I assume at the time he travelled to the US in 1957, he would have had a British passport then.

Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Any advice? Look at the answers you have already got on the usenet group misc.immigration.misc , after you posted exactly the same query there two days ago.

Actually John

I did post the request to other forums, and have subseqently to my posting here found helpful replies posted in the other Immigration Forum

I did not post that thread to usenet, and am suprised to see it there?
Perhaps that forum transfers its postings to the newsgroups, though
I am not familiar with that process.

My reason for posting here as well was for getting different opinnions and
more chance of contacting people who have already have similar experiences.

Also starting a different thread here, brings knowledge to your forum.

I am most suprised at your unwelcoming response, and running forums
in a different subject myself, would have taken any moderator to task
for such a posting in response to first post of a new member, without clarifying matters by a pm.

Anyone who has similar experience or interest in the matter that I posted
please contact me by PM or Post here

Thank You

Mick, fair enough, but after that initial post on the usenet group you then posted more information that is relevant to the matter. Would you like to post that here, or would you prefer members here to tease the information out of you?
