Student dependant to Tier-2

Post by tanveer2010 » Mon Jul 05, 2010 8:09 pm

Hi All,

I have been living in the UK on a Student Dependant Visa for the past 2years.

As I am allowed to work, I was able to get a job in the IT industry and have been working with my present employer for the past 6months now. My present employer is on the HO Sponsorship Register (Grade-A).

My employer is interested in getting me a work permit so I can carry on working for them.

Few Questions :

1 - Is it possible, that I can apply for a Tier-2 Visa from within the UK ?

2 - Points calculator tells me that I score the required points, even after selecting from within the UK, salary band, ielts.

3 - Do Systems Engineer falls on the shortage list or computing professionals ?

4 - I have been told that if the employer is on Grade-A, then one doesn't need to have £800 a month for the last 3 months ?

My understanding of the process is :

a) Employer gets the sponsorship certificate for me and a application number.

b) I will fill in the form, attach my IELTS Score, Salary Slips, Bank Statements, Sponsorship Certificate and Apply ?

I will be grateful for your experienced replies and the best route.

Do I need to get a lawyer to get this done or my employer will process the whole application or I can apply independently too ?

Once again, thanks for reading and will look forward to your replies.
